Welcome to this week’s edition of the HACCP Mentor Compliance Update. Before we get into this weeks food safety news, I want to take a moment to give thanks.

Today is ANZAC day, an event of immense historical significance for all Australians. ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders “who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations” and “the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.”

Observed on 25 April each year, ANZAC Day was originally devised to honor the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in the Gallipoli Campaign, their first engagement in the First World War (1914–1918).

I am forever indebted to those who sacrificed their life to give me the freedom to live my life in this great country. Lest we forget.

In this issue, we explore a range of topics including the launch of GFSI’s new stakeholder consultation for the IFS Food Standard v8 and the unfortunate incident of a woman’s death due to uncooked morel mushroom consumption.

We also delve into the issue of making environmental claims on products and review the latest data on Salmonella infections in the UK. You can also find our weekly wrap-up of food recalls and food fraud cases.

Until next time, stay safe.
